The Ottawa Senators have their all-star representative, none other than Captain Brady Tkachuk. For Tkachuk, this is his third all-star selection, the other two being 2020 and 2023. He will definitely wear the Sens colours with pride, despite the difficult season for the club thus far.

Brady Tkachuk is the Ottawa Senators All-star Pick

Brady Tkachuk is the Ottawa Senators all-star and why not? Well okay, he is fourth in points (27), but there’s more to his game than that, most of all being their leader. Also, he does lead the Senators in goals with 16. This puts him on pace for 40 on the year. Moreover, for Tkachuk, his selection isn’t purely based on point production. His 96 hits leads the team by an impressive 36, over second place Parker Kelly. Even though he’s a winger, he regularly takes faceoffs, especially on the power play, and is over 52%. Not to mention sticking up for his friends, either with his post-game press conferences or his fighting. He currently has 88 PIMs, second on the team has only 39.

The Ottawa Senators One-Two Punch

For the Sens club, this type of honour really is a two-horse race. Even though Tim Stutzle leads the team in points, it is acceptable to select Tkachuk over him. The almost 22-year-old Stutzle is on pace for a great season. He has 27 assists already and 34 points through 33 games. Therefore, he is the only above PPG player on the Sens. But there’s still opportunity down the road, once he becomes a more complete player to rack up all-star appearances. For now, Brady is more than deserving. Both Tkachuk and Stutzle find themselves off the pace of last season’s point totals, 83 and 90, respectively. In contrast, they aren’t concerned so much with individual accolades, this team wants to be winning. But the all-star weekend allows players for a mid-season reset, and to have some fun. No doubt the Sens as a group, need to start having fun, and turn things around. Not even to make the playoffs, they need to find a winning formula that can carry this group through in 2024-25.
