“You Will Feel My Pain”: Chargers WR Brenden Rice Reacts to 7th Round Draft Slide
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

No one expected former USC Trojans wide receiver Brenden Rice to slide to the seventh round, including the 6’2″ 208 lbs pass catcher. Most expected Rice to be taken in the late third round to the early fourth, but pick by pick Rice dropped to the seventh round, where the Los Angeles Chargers picked him with the 225th overall pick in the draft.

Rice took to Instagram to express his feelings about dropping “4 rounds from where I was supposed to go.”

Brenden Rice To Prove The NFL Was Wrong About Him

The Chargers added two more receivers in the draft in addition to Rice. The position group was roundly seen as the teams’ top need in the draft after they cut ties with Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. They drafted Georgia WR Ladd McConkey with the 34th overall pick and Michigan’s Cornelius Johnson with the 253rd pick.

They will join second-year receivers Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis as well as 4th year Joshua Palmer in the receiving core. He will compete for first-team reps as an outside receiver with Johnston and Palmer
