NBA Insider Details Phoenix Suns’ Doomed Roster Outlook
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NBA Playoffs were a disaster for the Phoenix Suns. Despite being listed as favorites heading into their first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, they are the first team who has been eliminated this postseason.

The Suns were swept by the Timberwolves, losing for the fourth time on Sunday evening, 122-116. Their Big 3 of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal did not come close to living up to the billing, as a first-round exit was certainly not what anyone had in mind.

With their offseason starting earlier than anyone could have anticipated, there are already discussions being had about what they can do with their roster in the 2024 NBA Offseason. In the opinion of ESPN insider Brian Windhorst, there isn’t much.

Windhorst made an appearance on The Pat McAfee show on Monday and gave some insight about what the offseason can look like for Phoenix. Given their dearth of assets, the only real tradable pieces are their Big 3.

NBA Rumors about their Big 3 being broken up are already swirling. There have been reports that Booker could look to get moved this offseason with the New York Knicks being his preferred landing spot. Given their success, he likely isn’t the only star with eyes on New York City this offseason.

The future of head coach Frank Vogel is also up in the air. He reportedly did not get along well with Durant and reports indicate that he will be fired. Potentially having to find a new head coach for a second consecutive offseason is less than ideal for Phoenix.

It will certainly be interesting to see how things unfold. As currently constructed, the Suns are certainly not an NBA title contender. But, figuring out how they can get closer to that level is easier said than done.
