NBA Draft News: Bronny James Makes 1 Big Promise to NBA Teams Interested in Picking Him
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

Bronny James understands that getting picked high in the 2024 NBA Draft is more of a pipe dream than a possible reality at this stage of his fledgling career. All the hype that surrounded LeBron James’ oldest son quickly dissipated after failing to significantly impact the USC Trojans’ campaign in his lone season there.

While his college CV leaves a lot to be desired, it’s hard to deny that he’s still an intriguing prospect if you just look at his circumstances. He displayed incredible athleticism and a superb shooting stroke that will help boost his draft stock.

It also helps that his father gave him encouraging words in public. While he’s been getting support from his father throughout the years, getting such a public vote of confidence should be assuring for him as he tries to make the same league his father dominated for decades.

As the draft inches closer, Bronny made a big promise to teams interested in using their draft capital on him.

Bronny James promises to put his best foot forward to teams interested in taking him in the 2024 NBA Draft

The media interviewed Bronny at the height of the 2024 NBA Draft Combine. He gave everyone a clear indication of where his mindset is as he does his best to raise his draft stock.

While it’s still not clear which teams are seriously looking into him, Bronny made a clear promise to always do his best for whichever team drafts him.

Per The Spun’s Daniel Bates:

“You know I always try to come out and play with my most effort. Of course I try to play around with it, but play hard. And I will always play hard. I feel like that shows up on the defensive end. But yeah, I just try to focus on that and that’s what [will get me] minutes in the long run,” James explained.

He also addressed critics who believe he’s only getting his opportunity because of his future Hall of Famer dad:

“There’s nothing I can say to be honest,” the ex-Sierra Canyon star said. “You know, I obviously see everything that has been thrown my way, but I’ve just got to shrug it off, and all the work that I’ve put in over this I don’t know how many years — I just feel like I need to believe in myself and everything.”

While it’s completely Bronny James’ right to think this way, it will be hard for him to scrape off these allegations after the season he showed in USC. He finished his lone collegiate season with only 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on a 36.6/26.7/67.6% shooting clip.

The only way he can quiet his critics is to show off when he gets to play in the pros.
