Alabama’s Star Quarterback Jalen Milroe Had A Very Interesting Take When Asked If Michigan Cheated Against Him In The Rose Bowl
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama and Michigan met in one of the best college football games ever played on January 1st of this year. The two met in the Rose Bowl, the first game of the four-team College Football Playoff.

Alabama And Michigan Both Saw Their Coaches Leave After The Season

Michigan would win 27-20 in overtime and the National Championship against Washington the following week. Alabama and Michigan both saw their head coaches leave this offseason, with the Crimson Tide’s coach, Nick Saban, retiring and the Wolverines’ Jim Harbaugh leaving to become an NFL head coach once again with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Michigan Closed Out Their Season With A Sign Stealing Scandal

Even though Michigan won it all last season, they are still under investigation for a sign-stealing scandal that broke at the end of October that stated when one of the Wolverine football staff members, Connor Stalions, started a sign-stealing operation where he would get people to go to games and record the opposing team who Michigan was going to have to face down the road and record their signs of when they’re trying to signal in on a play which is very much illegal.

The Big Ten suspended head coach Jim Harbaugh for the last three regular-season Big Ten games for the cheating scandal, and the NCAA is still investigating it.

Of course, the most significant talking point when Michigan wins a game is that they only won it because they cheated. But by the time they played Alabama in the Rose Bowl, the cheating scandal had already blown up, so there was no way Michigan was cheating in that game, and the Crimson Tide’s quarterback gave his thoughts on the subject.

Jalen Milroe Gives His Take

Milroe was on the podcast Bussin’ With The Boys, hosted by former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan, who played at Michigan. Lewan asked Milroe if he thought Michigan cheated.

The first-year starting quarterback stated, “It doesn’t matter; they won.”

It seems like Milroe wanted nothing to do with the Michigan cheating investigation, and to his point, there is no way Michigan was still cheating when the two teams played. Every team in college football knew Michigan had a cheating scandal against them then, so Alabama changed up the signs, even if Michigan somehow stole them going into that game.
